Breakfast of Champions!
Porridge for Breakfast
Following a program of calorie deprived exercise (40 minute power walk) first thing in the morning, return home, shower and prepare for your day, then have a healthy breakfast of organic porridge over frozen blueberries / dark berries.
For an adult male, use half a cup of porridge, with one cup of water and half a cup of organic skimmed milk - don’t use a microwave oven - cook in a steel pan over a medium to low heat, stirring regularly with a wooden spoon - when it starts it boil, allow to simmer for just one minute. Then pour over your berries - by using frozen fruit, you know you always have as good as fresh available, and it stops you burning your mouth as the porridge cools to defrost the fruit!
No need for sweeteners - if you can't resist use a little pure maple syrup, or low GI palm sugar. Don’t use artificial sugar or additives but aim to slowly reduce processed sugar - it's not good for you!
Insulin generally levels rise throughout the day, so good low GI (Glycemic Index) foods give you a slow gentle energy curve, which helps your performance athletically and also keeps down the desire for bad snacks.
If you’re hungry get some fruit and a handful of nuts.
Give-up nothing (except smoking!) and having a drink one day a week is acceptable.
